Kelowna has a new culinary experience!
Recently we were asked to shoot a series of images for Culinary Ink and their food bikes. The venture, in partnership with Metro Community, Kelowna Community Food Bank and Soles 4 Souls, is the first of its kind in North America to be franchising food bikes to non-profits and they are one of the first in North America with food bikes period.
The brief was to create a set of imagery that was clean but edgy. The team at Culinary Ink wanted us to really show a different way of portraying food and the food bike concept.
Taking our inspiration from the automotive industry, we shot in a commercial space using strong compositional elements to compliment the lines of the food bike. Using natural light and a 12ft x 12ft reflector we were able to get a nice contrast.
Shooting at around f8 we were able to keep the background nicely tied in with the subject matter, while still making it pop.
Our favourite part of this image is the shadows in the foreground, they really pull you right in to the cart. This was key as with most of our imagery we use large amounts of negative space – we just love it!
